Matthew,

Oracle 9i client does not talk to Oracle 7 databases I'm afraid. It was built that way.

Having said that, TOAD on my PC does talk to all my databases (734, 805, 806, 817, 9iR2) from a 9iR2 client. Nothing else does however, even my own programs written in Delphi/C++ Builder (not using the BDE).

I'm afraid you need to resort back to 817 client if you really must talk to the 7 database.

HTH Regards,
Norman.

Hi all,

We have been trying to connect between an Oracle 9i (9.2.0.1.0) and a
Oracle 7.x (7.3.4.4.0) server via a public database link, and it keeps failing when the link is accessed. Received on Fri Nov 01 2002 - 04:27:47 CST
