How to trim the extra space on a NUMBER field

i have this query that select a number field and a char field into a
text file.  i am having a lot of extra spaces after the number column.



i tried trim(x), trim(to_char(x)), .... all these methods and still
couldn't get rid of the extra space, can anyone help please?
