Do you want to use the "current_user" dblink because of the underlying invoker rights/definer rights functionality? Do you want to use it without ASO because you know about the bug associated with the "current_user"/ASO combo? The bug prevents you from using the "current_user" dblink IF ASO is installed on the same server where the dblink resides. This bug supposely was fixed since 9i release 1. But I am still seeing the error in WindowsXP version of 9i. Not sure if it would work if ASO in removed. Don't want to try it anyway. Does not seem to be the right way to get around a bug. If you are not concerned about the invoker rights/definer rights issue associated with the database link in a stored procedure, just indicate what you want to do with the db link, I am sure a lot of people can help you.
