Hi Niall,

if it were happening to me, I'd log an iTAR, but see what else I can find out in the meantime via metalink, google, these archives etc. Curiosity gets me almost every time :o)

Cheers,
Norman.

Subject: What am I missing?

In the thread started by Tom Miskiewizc "drop user name cascade", he gives
the contents of the alert log including an ORA-07445 together with a core
dump file name. Now I know that if the error thrown were an ora-0600 I would
not be alone in responding "Call Oracle Support", yet in this case (apparently an unhandled OS error) a number of people whom I respect leave
this option well alone and suggest various ways to drop a user's segments
one by one. So what am I missing? Were this to occur to me would folk advise
working around the issue or logging a TAR?
