Assuming you are a 24/7 shop with no downtime even for planned maintenance. These places do exist but for most businesses not planning maintenance is arguably as big a no-no as not patching.

Its also a lot of software that has no business being anywhere near a database server.
Yes windows does still require more reboots than it should. However it should also cope with patching at no more frequently than once a month for the services you actually use.
