You could save yourself the time of creating a tape if you just pipe the output of exp into the input of imp.

mkfifo expdat.dmp
exp user/password file=expdat.dmp other_options.... & imp user/password_at_destination_db file=expdat.dmp other_options... Received on Wed Oct 09 2002 - 12:46:16 CDT
