Psst! Keep this to yourself, Mike... but I use SQL Server at home for several small databases I have, and I rather like it as a DBMS. Dead easy to set up and get going. I like not having to code triggers to get simple incrementing sequence numbers for tables.

But federated databases? Accessed by a bunch of UNION queries?! Pah!! RAC knocks that idea into a cocked hat.

So, yeah: horses for courses, and you'd have to be a bit of a looney to claim that there's only one decent product out there. OTOH, I'm not entirely certain that we get a lot of that round here. Partisan support for the product this newsgroup is all about, sure. But blinkered belief in 'Oracle right or wrong'.... don't think so. But I could be wrong....
