rdbms: ora 8.1.7.4

o/s: w2k server
box: Dell Power Edge quad 700 Mhz

My temporary tablespace will grow dramatically (30 to 40 gig) for a short period (5 minutes) and then shrink back down to its normal size (5 gig). I can only determine that the segments that are responsible for the growth are named "SYS.4.844802" and similar.

I would like to determine what user is causing the temp segment growth. Is there a way of tracing the name of the temp segment back to a process id/user?

Cheers,
