Why don't you just follow the installation guides and put each of the "echo >" commands in a script and start that script from rcx.d?

It is really easy, but you will have to determine for yourself what the various values for your particular system have to be.

While you're at it, put all the oracle user environment settings in a script and have the oracle user run it prior to doing any database work. This will come in handy when you installe 9iASR2, for which you will have at least two instances, and therefore, two sets of environment settings.
