Martin,

I don't know Oracle official position, but I have a couple of HP-UX 11 servers running 8174 and 9iR2.

Server one at present only has an 8174 database built. Server two has 6 8174 databases and one 9iR2 one. (This isn't a production environment so I'm not bothered about having more than one !)

The servers were patched and kerneled for 817 when I installed that. When I needed to install 9i, I patched and kerneled for those requirements instead.

So far so good .......

Cheers,
Norman.

PS. In a production environment, one per server is best (esp if that server is Windows!)

Hello colleagues,

Does anybody have an experience to have 2 databases (one 8.1.7, the second 9.0.1) on HP production server the same time ? As I know recommended kernel parameters are different for two versions of Oracle. Does anybody know the official responce of Oracle ?

Thanks a lot,
