Actually, most lists start with Afghanistan, followed by Albania, Algeria and (would you believe) American Samoa.

So even by typing 'A', there's a fair degree of scrolling! I once tried incremental searching: 'A' followed by 'U', but that just takes you to Uganda.

Real Player certainly includes Australia in a selct group of special countries that appear before the alphabetically-listed hoi polloi, but that's unusual in my humble experience.
