Between you and Howard, you have described pretty much why there won't be a 9i book.

95%+ of the book would just be the '8i' book repeated, perhaps with a couple of typos and silly error corrected and minor changes, and 5% would be a couple of new features from 9i which didn't really have any added value to the general principles.

I've got too much pride to churn out a pot-boiler.

Maybe by 10i - with its rumoured new strategies - there will be something worth saying differently.

Thanks for the compliments, by the way, any word of mouth advertising is especially welcome - ditto for the extraordinary 3-day, highly intensive seminar I run on how Oracle works. Soon to be running in Detroit and Dallas.
