Sybrand,

True enough, but 98% is the app and the SQL it submits. I agree with your earlier posting in this thread; if the application isn't ours, there are a few things we can do, but not many. Sorry if this sounds irritable; it isn't meant to be. I've had a bad day trying to rescue a problem which is caused by the application design being a heap of shit. The DBA's are supposed to run around the touchlines at 100 mph fixing things after the event, yet are not allowed to join in the game. (Rant over).
