If you mean you don't want the Win2K service to start then do the following.

  1. Right click on My Computer Icon
  2. Select Manage Menu Item
  3. Expand Services and Applications TreeView Item
  4. Select Services TreeView Item
  5. Right click OracleServiceYourSID ListView Item
  6. Select Properties Menu Item
  7. Choose the Startup Type of Manual

You can also allow the Win2K service to start with an idle instance. But I'm out of time, so someone else will have to jump in.
