Yes, Oracle will plug you for more licence fees, although not as much as a standard licence.

How much depends on your relationship with your local Oracle sales rep (which I would think is not great as you've asked this question on a NG with no official Oracle representation).

So, pick up the phone (or log onto http://oraclestore.oracle.com ) and say you are thinking of buying a whole stack of Oracle licences (around 50000 or so) but for now are just interested in what deal you can strike for the a number of standby licences ...
