parameter "compatible" question

Hello,

I would like to know how many dots should be entered into init parameter "compatible".
In the online doc of 8i, it is mostly 8.x.x. It is not clear (at least to me...)
if 8.x.x.x.x would be valid.

If You have a database upgrade to 8.1.7 Release 3, is "8.1.7" still sufficient or
do I have to set it to "8.1.7.3" or "8.1.7.3.0" ?
