Wouldn't recommend doing that. Oracle 9i might even not be certified against 2.6, which is going to be desupported by Sun at the end of this year.
I would upgrade to 8.1.7, upgrade Solaris to 2.8, stay on 8i for a while (you will be schocked) and only then do the 9i hassle. If you go the straight way you might end up with a 7.3 database in a 9i cloack.
