This is really a linux question. However....

Yes, you can reinstall and give /tmp more space. Where you choose to get that space from is up to you. Since you didn't post the output of a df, we have no idea what your current setup is like.

/tmp is on whatever partition you created it on. cd to /tmp, do a "df ." and you'll see what partition you are on.
