Errors on installation...

I keep getting an error when I try to install 8i on my Linux Redhat Server... I get approximately 12 or 13 errors that are all similar... An example of one of the errors I keep getting is this:

-error in invoking target relink of makefile /usr/oracle/precomp/lib/ins_precomp.mk

All the other errors are similar to the preceding...except they are different file names....

I would greatly appreciate somebody's help.....
