In short words: Grab Note:133920.1 from metalink, read it and also read the migration guide located in your oracle documentation. Shutdown your database and make a cold backup. Install oracle binaries 8.1.7 64 bit on the new host (don't forget to set the semaphores for 8.1.7 64 bit), copy your datafiles, init<SID>.ora, passwordfile to the new host. Then do the migration from 8.0.6.x to 8.1.7 on the new host. After that upgrade your oracle binaries and your instance from 8.1.7 to 8.1.7.3 (why not 8.1.7.4 - the latest patchset?). If it is possible test migration and upgrade with a small test instance before you migrate your production system
