LRM-00109: could not open parameter file '?/dbs/init@.ora'

Hi all,

I reinstalled my ORACLE 8i on a RedHat 7.2 box just now. I created a DB named "LOCAL" using *DataBase Assistant*. It's very good when I finish the installation. Then I reboot the box. When I wanna start ORACLE, I got the following lines.

$ svrmgrl

Oracle Server Manager Release 3.1.7.0.0 - Production

Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.1 - Production With the Partitioning option
JServer Release 8.1.7.0.1 - Production

SVRMGR> connect internal
Connected.
SVRMGR> startup
LRM-00109: could not open parameter file '?/dbs/init@.ora' ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters SVRMGR>

I'm not very clear about what happened. Please help me,thank you so much. BTW: Should I paste some *.ora files here to read?
