Hi,

Someone thought it would be a nice idea to implement a search 'a la google', searching (more or less) all fields in all tables, probably with like '%string%'.

Does anyone have any ideas how to implement this efficiently. Or perhaps arguments why we shouldn't do this?

Can a column be indexed in such a way that it's used by "like '%string%'" (don't think so...)

Can Oracle Text be used for this, or is that more useful for searching (external) documents?

Btw, we're using Oracle 9i.

Thanks,
