Hi folks. I am a unix/sun admin that is trying to learn some Oracle dba skills to enhance employability. :I I have 8i 8.1.7 installed on a box running solaris 8. After doing a few installs of the basic software I have lots of questions about how to do an "non-interactive" install.

What are some of the skills I should try to learn to start? user support? passwords, access rights?
Creation of databases? Tuning?

If someone could suggest books and manuals that would be helpful that would be great.
I downloaded a bunch of documentation from OTN .

For now I would like to learn enough to take on some simple dba tasks. Enough to get my foot in the door or atleast not sound like a complete novice in an interview.

TIA /markt
