Somewhat convoluted, but ....

Honda Motorcycle mechanic ..
Yamaha Outboad Motor Mechanic & Fibrglass boat builder/fixer College
Cobol programmer (ICL Mainframes)
Tech support analyst (ICL Mainframes)
Tech Support team leader
IDMS(X) database administrator.

(new job)

Uniface developer
Technical Support
Oracle "guru" (self taught)
Oracle "dba"
Oracle DBA courses & OCP exams
Oracle DBA

:o)

BNasically, hard work, understanding development and database 'stuff' and combining the two.
Also, being in the right place at the right time when the previous dba left :o)

HTH Regards,
Norman.

I would like to know what positions DBA have taken (from low positions to
high positions) before they got to where they are now, so I know what path I
should be take in my near future.
