No, no problem at all. Provided you don't mind all the extra I/O work that picking an inappropriate blocksize will induce and provided you don't mind not having keep and recycle pools for the 16K cache.

Sorry. Cut the sarcasm. There is a *right* blocksize, and eveything else is wrong. The right blocksize depends entirely on the operating system/file system you are using. If you don't have a file system (raw, NT) then 16K. Otherwise 8K. Except if you are on AIX or Linux, then its 4K.

Suggest instead that you visit www.ixora.com.au, and look under the 'Tips" link. There's an article there on picking a large database block size, which depends, in turn, on one about block_size=file system buffer size.
