thank you for the referneces - funny the search enging in the docs never found them.
I've passed the info on to my colleague. It appears that DIANA might be the problem - and not a 64Kb limit on source.

Well, if you write some lenghty procedure and then wrap it, its size
will
most certainly exceed 64k. As far as I know there are limits on DIANA
nodes, but I am not aware of any on source code size (at least not 64k).
