"Running to stand still" is a nickname for all IT business. I'm still waiting when my PC will be real fast, from 386DX40 with 4MB RAM and 260MB Seagate to now with XP1500+, 512MB RAM and 80GB IBM Deskstar and I'm still waiting, waiting and waiting .... :-(

Execution plans? Most of our applications (in 8.0.5) are using RBO, so dealing with execution plans is huge task. I have suspicion that most of these application was migrated (without any changes) from Oracle7 years ago and that's the reason for using RBO. After switching to CBO in 8i sometimes very strange exec plans can be used. Not mentioning the fact that support personnel has no clue about running statistics, and stats gathering is why they think that 8i is a worse then 8 (some new "useless" work added).

You mean that part with shares? Not at all. However Seagate is the best one in SCSIs even without Howard as shareholder. :-) Nice to know that someone still believe in IT industry and keep IT shares. :-)

Note: pagesflames_at_usa.net has been cancelled due to changes (maybe we
can call it an overture to bankruptcy) on that server. I'm still using
this email to prevent SPAM. Maybe one day I will change it and have a
proper mail even for news, but right now I can be reached by this
email.
