It is possible to have separate Oracle users, but WHY??? The only time I have seen this in good reason is in the 11i Financials, where because of limited resources, 2 environments are created on 1 box.

If this is really something you want to do, I would suggest the following: Comments always welcome.

  1. Create an 'oratest' user. Create a 'dbatest' group.
  2. Create an 'oraprod' user. Create a 'dbaprod' group.

Install separate Oracle binaries as each user. You can now manage and own separate db's and listeners separately. Received on Mon Jun 17 2002 - 11:33:29 CDT
