Congratulation, we should get out these annoying 8s in 2002. I think
that 8.1.7 is a good one, rock solid, no big issues. I do not expect
9is in our organization before 2003. To be honest, I must admit that,
with security problems discovered recently, I was very happy that we
stick to good old 8.1.7, we're a bank after all and suprisingly some
of our data are not allowed to go public. :-)
Migration can be a real pain (LMTs - changing all storage parameters,
different syntax, stupid script tools etc.), but in long run you will
appreciate it. I have some experiences - 5 migrations scheduled for
this month. :-)
Think about MTS, we've encountered impressive performance numbers with
2000+ users in OLTP environment.
