Allright,

heres the ouput of ulimit -a when in the backup directory: oracle_at_UE250:/ora01/backup # ulimit -a

data seg size (kbytes)      unlimited
file size (blocks)          unlimited

pipe size (512 bytes)       10
stack size (kbytes)         8192
cpu time (seconds)          unlimited
max user processes          15941
virtual memory (kbytes)     unlimited

oracle_at_UE250:/ora01/backup #

I think this looks quite good...but what could be the damn error.
