What Kevin is saying is that Oracle7 *was* certified. Therefore, it *has* been tested and proven by Oracle. Whether it is supported or not, *today* is a different question.
Yannick is running 7.3.4 on Solaris 2.5.1 When he
upgrades the OS to Solaris 8, he would still need to be
able to startup the 7.3.4 database using the 7.3.4 ORACLE_HOME.
He needs to know if 7.3.4 was *certified*.
Why do you think information on older releases
is still available on MetaLink ?
You're probably one of the handful of people who
run nothing lower than 9iRelease2 on Solaris8 with
the latest patchset.
Yannick,
1. Oracle7 7.3.4 was certified all the way upto Solaris 8.
In fact, it is currently under EMS [you have to pay
extra to get Extended Maintenance Support] till
31-Dec-2002 and EAS [free, under your regular
Maintenance Contract] till 31-Dec-2003.
2. Reports 2.5.5.4.0 is part of Developer 1.3.2 Base Release
[ie, without any patchsets]. This was certified only upto
Solaris 2.5.1
3. Forms 4.5.7.1.2 is also part of Developer 1.3.2 Base Release.
This, as per the Developer 1.3.2 certification, was certified
as high as Solaris 2.5.1
