I have a UTF-8 database (Oracle 8.1.7), on my Win-XP english machine.

I want to do some testing to insert and select data. More specifically chinese and japanese characters.

It does not really matter what the words actually mean as long as I can insert and select them. Just as well as I cannot read anything other than english!

The problem is, when I copy and paste some japanese characters into SQL*Plus worksheet, they paste into an SQL statement OK, but when I select the same row, the data comes back as "?????"

What am I doing wrong, and what are the best tools and tutorials to help me see the error of my ways!! Received on Wed May 15 2002 - 10:06:10 CDT
