Up until now I've been using 8.0.5 client w/o any problems to access all dbs.

my tnsnames.ora file is sitting on the network, so that i would have to change it once for everybody. (there are probably better ways of doing this, but that's the way it is).

anyway, I had TNS_ADMIN variable set in
\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE after installing 8.1.7 client, it
stopped working (win programs can't resolve service name...ORA-

I tried putting it into
\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\ALL_HOMES
\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\ALL_HOMES\ID0
\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE \ALL_HOMES\ID1
\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\HOME0
\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\HOME1
none of these locations seem to work.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanx.
