i'm trying to do this too.

i get to step 7, and create the service, which appears to be fine (although how can you tell?).

however, when i try to run svrmgrl in step 8, i get a "TNS protocol adapter error" which suggests that the service isn't running.

which version of the init.ora should the the -pfile parameter point to? do you need it at all?
