To manually produce an archive log you use the command: ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE;
Q. Do you do this once? Or once for each online redo log group?

Why do you clear logs after recovery using the ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS; Q. I'm not sure when to open resetlogs and when not to open resetlogs.

Why is SHUTDOWN ABORT necessary after the loss of a control file?
