NASDAQ uses Oracle running at 2 locations (Trumble Connecticut and somewhere in Maryland). Each location has 2 Sequent boxes running parallel server and replicating on 5 second intervals to the other.

Not to say rdb is not fast or good. I've never used it. Just another data point.
