ntcontab.o was there just needed adding to LD_LIBRARY_PATH actually oracle now runs
I think this actually was the gotcha, because after I added ntcontab.o to the path $ORAC'_H'/bin/adapters worked and after that worked lsnctrl start LISTENER worked, so I think
it was in the end a case of one thing after the other. Incidentally, getting oracle to work without
manuals or CDs is a bit of a struggle! But it appears to be possible!

minor celebrations going on here right now. Just got to create my first database with constant
tusc errors of ENOMEM and listener.log saying "no buffer space available" real memory is 48M
and virtual is 128M

my suspicion is there is not enough memory on this machine to run oracle properly, but I'm going
to try anyway!

Thanks for your help Sybrand.

Cheers,

Patrick. Received on Tue Apr 30 2002 - 02:35:06 CDT
