What platform ??

This is described in the Intallation Guide. In principle two or more nodes which are connected by an interconnect and a set of disks which can be accessed from both nodes and cluster software. But there a slight differences depending on the platform what is supported.

On Tru64 it can be stored in the file system, everywhere else it has to be stored as raw devices.
