There is no possible way that I have ever heard of to lose anything runing the scripts you mention. You should be able to run them every 4 hours for a year and not destroy anything.

What is the symptom that you are actually seeing? Please describe clearly. Oh and are you running this on some hardware and operating system or in a vacuum?

Can you log in through server manager?

What happens if you do and run SELECT COUNT(*) FROM tab$;
