Well, with a handful of data corruption bugs being fixed in each successive patchset, my trust in Oracle is now not as high as it used to be when I didn't have access to MetaLink...

Ideally, there should be no need to check if certain data made it into the database unchanged, but no thing in this universe is perfect (even its Creator, otherwise He wouldn't create such an imperfect world...). Software is no exception, especially such complex software as Oracle.
