Thanks to you and Howard for the info. I can easily set up a job to do the log switch which, as was pointed out, is really what I need. I am, BTW, running Enterprise Edition, but 9i is not available on my SGI platform. 8.1.7.2 is suposed to be the last release on SGI IRIX.
