Hi,

You may want to spend a short amount of time reading the Oracle8i concepts manual... It's a great book and an often overlooked step when starting to work with Oracle.

http://docs.oracle.com/cd_database_generic_8.1.7/server.817/a76965/toc.htm

It will walk you through users, schemas and databases. It will de-mystify it a bit for you esp if you've just come from Sqlserver.

Good luck...
