Database assistant problem

Hi,



When i run the database assistant on 8.1.7 and NT and try and connect to a
database as SYS/**PASSWORD** it fails with a invalid username and/or
password when i connect as SYSDBA BUT when i connect with sqlplus using the
same info it works fine... eg



sqlplus SYS/**PASSWORD**@SID i can get in and have full access?



does anyone know why this might be?
