Maybe you're not seeing my responses in the other thread (some news services can be a bit flaky), but just for the record we restore from tape on a daily basis and almost never have a failure. I'm talking dozens or even hundreds of gigs a week.

Tape ain't so bad. Solves particular problems rather nicely.
