Memory Usage Question

Hello. My question regards the amount of memory that oracle.exe should be using when my computer first loads up. I'm running win xp pro, w/ 512 mb ram. I using oracle 9i full enterprise install. I noticed that oracle.exe is using about 130 mb of ram. Is this normal? This is the figure before I ever start sql plus.

Also.... I have about 1 2 weeks experience with Oracle. I'm an MIS student taking my first database class. My teacher is very gung ho on Oracle. It's the first thing we started out with (instead of access, like in other teacher's classes) so I had to install it to do my assignments. With that said, I'm pretty new to this program(s). If you guys could provide me with some links to beginners guides to Oracle I would appreciate it.

I couldn't find the FAQ for this newsgroup (assuming of course there is one). Could someone point me in the right direction.

The memory "overuse" issue is my priority. I now have OracleService(mydatabasename) set to manual in the services page of admin tools.

Thanks advance for any help. Received on Sat Mar 16 2002 - 04:29:21 CST
