Hello Again Super DBA's:

I am able to establish successful connections using the utility
"SVRMGR" (SVRMGR> connect internal /password). I can also verify the
listerner status using "LSNCTL81" which completes successfully. Today I was finally able to establish a connection from a WIN98 client using the Net8 Easy config software.

My only remaining problem is the error message received when I attempt to access the "WEBDB" home. I using the correct syntax, as prescribed. My first attempt was succesful and I connected to the "webdb.home" page located in
"http://servername:8080/webdb/webdb.home". The first attempt
succeeded. Then after rebooting the srever and client, I now receive http error messages indicating my "DAD description for the URL in the connection string" is incorrect. So, I opened the
"/admin_/gateway.htm" pages and changed the DAD connection string from
a host name to the actual IP address for the 8i server.

Then, I attempted to connect again. This time, after switching to IP rather than host name, I received a new error indicating "database login failed". I do not understand why I was able to access the
"webdb" home page once, and after rebooting it is unavailable.

As far as being the world's most powerful database product, I must admit my opinion is the client/server & networking transport tools should have been much more "user-friendly" and less tied to windows protocols, (SMS, SAM, etc.). I hope the 8i & 9i is much less confusing to implement on a LINUX platform.

Anyway, I stil need help getting my "webdb" started. Thanks to all of you for your responses, time and effort. I appreciate the community support!
