Never had to drop a chapter yet, and yes... I refuse to look at the book until the *end* of each chapter.

I once tried not to look at the book at all... at which point students started to complain that I wasn't covering the material (even though I was). Seems that unless they get to flick through each and every page, they somehow feel they're being cheated. You just can't win.

The 8i upgrade was a bit of a disaster, frankly. Far too many chapters. What they did was to re-write it so that it assumed you already knew 8.0 (the original version covered 7 to 8i as well as 8 to 8i). So comments that you make at the end of a course (I presume you filled in the assessment sheet) are actually taken very seriously, and where appropriate recitification can be undertaken, it very often is.

Fortunately, the 9i course doesn't have any such problems. I still wonder what they were thinking of, putting Advanced Replication in it, but there you go.

Regards
HJR
