Hi,

I am working on an internationalization project and I want to create a Oracle 8i database with a Japanese name. The Oracle8i database server is installed on a Japanese NT machine. However on creating a database with name as ,ã,ä (I don't know if this will appear properly in my posted message but the unicode values of this string are 3085 and 3086), I get an error-i.e. invalid database name.
I wonder why it doesn't take Japanese database names for server installed on a Japanese Operating System. will I have to give a English name on Japanese OS too? Any comments?

Regards,
Siddharth. Received on Fri Mar 08 2002 - 08:22:20 CST
