Abel,

Your guess is right. There is such Oracle tool - RMAN.

You can not only backup your database but also to restore it. You can make hot and cold backups as well.

There is a script on: http://www.dbaclick.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.cgi -> Backup/Recovery with RMAN

It is a piece od cake to restore and recover the database with RMAN.
