The release notes will inform you of what patches you will need.

There are many philosophies to Oracle Apps patching, and sometimes the debate gets quite nasty.

Here's my school of thought:

  1. During the implementation and testing phases of your Apps, problems will surface that will require patches before you go live. It is at that time that patches can be applied to test from the baseline. Keep a list of the patches for your future production environment.
  2. Patches for Production environmentsI follow the "if it aint broke, don't fix it." philosophy. Who cares if you dont have the latest AR patch if it introduces new features you wont use or if there are currently not any problems with your system. Patch when a patch is needed, or if a particular version of the module is no longer at a certified level.
